ITD employees have opportunity to make difference
by participating in charitable giving campaign

In many cases, the faces are not familiar. They represent parents, grandparents and children; unemployed and under-employed; home owners, renters and the homeless. Their needs often are simple, yet overpowering.

The time to help them take a step toward a better life is never more important than during the current economic downturn. ITD employees have that opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of their neighbors, friends and strangers by investing in the 2008 Idaho State Employees’ Charitable Giving Campaign.

The campaign began formally Sept. 24 and will continue through the end of this month.

ITD employees have a new medium to learn about the state campaign and to plan their participation. Enterprise Technology Services and Web designer Spencer Brooks recently unveiled a new interactive Web site, http://www.unitedwecare.idaho.gov . It includes an online calculator for employees to determine their participation level. It is located under the “Contribute” tab on the Web site.

“The pledge form on the ‘Contribute’ page is interactive and can be filled out online and printed, but not saved,” explains Tammie Jauregui, who is sharing duties as ITD’s campaign coordinators. “Be sure you print off a copy, sign it, and make a copy for your own records.”

District employees should send the original to their personnel technician while Headquarters employees should route their contribution forms to Judy Davis in Human Resource Services.

A list of charities that employees can select to receive their contributions also is located under the “Continue” tab. The regional United Way offices and their Web sites are listed under Regional Programs, which show the charitable organizations in their areas.

“If you don’t find a program you are looking for, you also can use the “Locate a 501” link,” Jauregui explains “Let’s show the rest of the state agencies what a successful campaign looks like!”

ITD Director Pam Lowe, who is the campaign coordinator for all state agencies, encourages employees to participate in this year’s campaign.

“We realize that these are challenging economic times in Idaho,” Lowe said. “Because of those economic challenges, the need has never been greater… but the opportunity for helping others has never been greater either. I invite ITD employees to invest in their community and their neighbors by participating in the 2008 campaign.”
