Weiser bridge
For more than 100 years, a bridge has spanned the Snake River in Weiser. The original bridge was built in 1903. An additional span was added in 1911, and traffic signals came in 1949. In the 1950s, the bridge was replaced. Now it is happening again - by next fall, a new structure will connect Annex, Oregon to Weiser.
The project to replace the existing bridge on the U.S. 95 Spur heading into Weiser started this spring.Through it all, the project has not only stayed on schedule, but even exceeded expectations – the completion wasn’t
anticipated until 2010 – but crews have
been able to shave about six months off the project timetable.
Construction crews poured the new deck for the bridge in mid-September and are forming curb and gutter, sidewalks and a decorative concrete railing. Work also is continuing on preparing the bridge approaches for paving. Once completed, the bridge will be 16 feet wider and able to carry greater traffic volumes than the existing structure.
Sletten Construction of Boise is the contractor on this $10 million project.
