Lowell Elementary turns cans into helmets
Sandy Harris
Idaho Transportation Department
Our Lowell staff wishes to thank the employees at ITD for collecting aluminum cans and donating the recycling money to our school. The cans that I collected in August from ITD yielded $90.72.
Each school year in the fall and sprint I purchase bicycle helmets for our students from the Berman Harviel Miller Foundation for $5 each. Your donation makes it possible to give helmets to students who otherwise would not have this protection.
Sincerely,

Worthy tribute
Mel Coulter
I personally wish to thank you, the TRANSPORTER staff, and others involved for the well-done article about Joe's untimely passing. He spent a lifetime defending the freedom and peace we enjoy in this country and now is enjoying a far superior peace.
He was returning from visiting his family in the Southeast, including grandchildren, when a car crossed the centerline and hit his motorcycle head-on. It occurred 7 or 8 miles northwest of Wickenburg, Ariz., between Phoenix and Kingman, Ariz. We on the Bogus Basin Ski Patrol and his friends at ITD will miss him.
Again, thank you.
