Tight economic times call for smart measures when it comes to maintaining and improving Idaho’s transportation system to meet the state’s increasing demands.

ITD’s 2009 Project Development Conference will focus on Practical Solutions for Transportation Systems in Idaho. The event will include presentations by nationally known transportation experts, more than 30 breakout sessions, exhibits, sponsors and an awards banquet.

The conference begins on April 7 at 9 a.m. with an invigorating flag ceremony presented by the Boise Police Pipes and Drums in coordination with the Boise Police Honor Guard. It will be at the Boise Centre on the Grove in downtown Boise.

ITD Director Pam Lowe will provide opening remarks. Several nationally recognized speakers will follow, addressing variety of transportation topics.  Speakers will continue non-stop throughout the day, concluding with the Excellence in Transportation Awards banquet from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The second day (April 8) will feature four breakout sessions for planning/traffic, environmental, design and materials topics. Attendees may move among sessions to obtain a well-rounded view of practical solutions.

The conference is supported by more than 15 local and national sponsors and will feature exhibits by nearly 20 vendors. Registration, if received by March 6, is $200 per person and $245 thereafter.
