Reference list sheds light on ITD acronyms

What’s the difference between TPAA, TPA, TP and TPBM? Aside from the common emergency declaration, what does SOS represent at the Idaho Transportation Department? ADA is short for Americans with Disabilities Act; it has a different connotation at ITD. And DOS is more than an antiquated computer operating system that morphed into the Windows platform.

An extensive list of acronyms that resides on the ITD Intranet helps employees understand shortened versions of job titles. For example:

  • TPAA is Transportation Planning Administrative Assistant
  • TPA is Transportation Planning Administrator
  • TP is the Division of Transportation Planning
  • TPBM is Transportation Planning Business Manager
  • SOS represents Supply Operations Supervisor
  • ADA is Administrator of the Division of Administration
  • DOS is Dealer Operations Supervisor

Management assistant Tammie Jauregui recently updated the list that includes 221 entries. It is available on ITD’s Intranet page under “references.” Or click here.

Another helpful list that includes general transportation terms is available from the department’s Internet site. The glossary is available under “News and Information.” Go to the Media Center and select Glossary of Transportation Terms from the menu on the right.

Anyone with additional acronyms or terms to include in the glossary can send suggestions to the Transporter.
