Headquarters honors employees for service

Idaho Transportation Board member Bruce Sweeney thanked employees Thursday for their continuing service and congratulated those who reached employment milestones.

He was unable to attend the semi-annual employee service awards ceremony, held in conjunction with the monthly board meeting, but used video conferencing technology to address an overflow crowd at the Headquarters auditorium.

“It is my pleasure to represent the board in this important part of what we do – honoring you for your years of service and presenting special awards,” he said from Lewiston.

“I encourage everyone in the department to look for opportunities to demonstrate and tell others about what you do… work even harder because this is an excellent opportunity to show people the job you do.”

He said the printed awards program captures the sentiment of the entire board: “sincere appreciation for all you do to enhance the transportation experience for the citizens of Idaho. Without your demonstrated commitment, loyalty and contributions, ITD would not have the successful outcomes we see today.”

Janet L. Gallimore, executive director of the Idaho State Historical Society, presented a special award to Dan Everhart of ITD’s Environmental Section for his work to organize, promote and deliver a comprehensive symposium in 2008 on “Modernism in the Northwest.”

ITD Director Pam Lowe and Deputy Director Scott Stokes presented service awards to 45 employees as Randy Kyrias, Administrator of the Division of Public Transportation, called them forward.

Nearly half of the 45 employees honored have reached 10 or 20 years of service to the state. Eleven were honored for achieving a decade of service and 11 others marked two decades.

Among those honored were three employees who celebrated the completion of their 35th year of service to the department and state during the last half of 2008. They were Jane Baumann, Vehicle Services; Terry Christ, Business & Support Management; and /Robert Newell, Bridge.

Colleagues also honored the contributions of 13 employees who concluded long and distinguished careers in late 2008:

  • Charles Wamsley
  • David Brown
  • Diann Eskuri
  • Gerald Valle
  • Janice Hargrave
  • Judy Trinkaus
  • Leonard Baxter
  • Marge Toler
  • Mark Young
  • Martin Montgomery
  • Paulette Gibbons
  • Ray Keller
  • Rosalie Cramer

Combined, the retirees accounted for 302 years of service, or an average of 23.2 years each.
