High visibility clothes help during daylight hours

Sometimes a photo can show vividly what words cannot portray, such as the need for high-visibility clothing when working on Idaho highways.

A recent crash on Interstate 15 north of Idaho Falls is such example. Emergency responders who arrived at the scene of a crash involving a semi truck and an ITD snowplow were not wearing high-visibility jackets or vests. An ITD employ was appropriately dressed.

Can you tell which is the ITD employee?

Even during daylight conditions, when reflectivity is less important, the high visibility color of the orange vest stands out clearly in an otherwise black and white environment.

The lesson is… wear high visibility clothing whenever working on or near highways and traffic – day and night.
