Thanks for your many contributions

ITD colleagues,

One week to say thanks just isn’t enough.

I can’t begin to tell you how proud I am of the service that each of you provides to the citizens of Idaho on a daily basis, every week throughout the year.

Because of your combined efforts, Idaho citizens use our transportation system with confidence. They know highways will be plowed in the winter and repaired and restriped in the summer. They know licensing and titling questions will be resolved quickly and completely. They know we are preparing mobility options for present and future needs. They realize that a strong economy depends on a strong transportation system.

Even during these turbulent times, most Idahoans will agree they depend on the services you provide. We receive a number of letters and e-mail messages throughout the year expressing how some of you have made their lives easier. For each of the specific comments we receive, there are perhaps hundred of others that could have been or should have been written.

I have learned, as director, that we can never say thank you often enough. That’s why Idaho Transportation Board members felt so strongly they recently sent letters to each of you personally, thanking you for your contributions. That’s why the governor proclaimed May 4-8 as Public Employee Appreciation Week and Wednesday as State Employee Recognition Day. And that’s why we celebrated this week at ITD.

Although one week just isn’t enough, please accept it as our modest way of saying thank you.  You’re doing a terrific job.
