Performance Measurement meetings scheduled
– Employees asked to participate –

ITD administrators will discuss the department’s renewed commitment to organizational values and performance management during several sessions beginning Friday (May 15) at 1:30 p.m.

The essence of a two-day training session this week in Boise will be shared with all ITD employees in the next two weeks, explains Director Pam Lowe. The expectation is that employees will schedule a time to participate in the May 15 session or a sequel planned for Monday, May 18, at 1:30 p.m.

Both formal sessions will originate from the Headquarters Auditorium but be available for viewing in all six districts, at the HQ Annex east conference room and conference rooms 200 and 212 at the main building.

Arrangements are being made to record the sessions and produce a DVD for individuals who cannot participate at the scheduled times.

The program applies performance management principles to everything we do, all facets of the department’s operation and individual contributions, Lowe explains.

“It will help us to become an even better agency. One of our goals is to be an industry leader, and this will help us get there. We really want to be a leader rather than a follower.

“Certainly this helps us prepare to meet the challenges Governor Otter identified in his executive order, but we already had identified performance management and organizational values as a priority. It falls in line with and complements what the governor expects.  We’re actually on the same track already.

“We expect the performance management concept to become part of ITD’s culture, to become a core of everything we do and every decision we make. It will extend from maintenance workers in the field, to engineers, planners, office staff and administrators.

“It will define who we are as an agency and how each of us functions individually as a part of the agency. Embracing organizational values and performance management cannot be an option, but will become a foundational principle.”
