State controller announces plans to discontinue
paper paycheck stubs in June

The State Controller’s office announced last week that it will discontinue the printing of pay stubs for employees who participate in direct deposit, effective June 12.

“If all state employees were to incorporate this change, it would save an estimated $125,000 annually while providing important benefits for employees,” State Controller Donna M. Jones announced May 8.

Employees who do not have access to an Internet-connected computer at work or home are advised to contact payroll staff, Jones said.

“Employees who wish to receive a  paper copy can print it at www.sco.idaho.gov ,” explains ITD Controller Gordon Wilmoth. “You will need to sign up through your district personnel technician or Headquarters’ Human Resources Services to view your pay sub online.”

Headquarters employees can contact Michelle Maxwell at ext. 8067 or Dana Bailey at ext. 8068 for more information.

The move away from paper paycheck stubs has several advantages, Jones explains:

  • By receiving your pay stub online, you are helping to save thousands of tax dollars.
  • Online pay stubs for employees are published a full week earlier than the paper pay stubs were printed.
  • Delivering pay stubs online through our password-protected and encrypted Web site increases their security and confidentiality, protecting your confidential information from loss and fraud.
  • Your current and historical pay stubs are available online 24-hours a day from any computer with Internet access.
  • Go to www.sco.idaho.gov and choose the following options to learn more: payroll, then applications, and finally online pay stubs.
