ITD to join state police as 'Road Angels'
in annual women's fitness challenge Sept. 24-26

ITD and the Idaho State Police will combine under the umbrella of Road Angels to promote women’s health next month in Boise.

Employees and family members from both agencies will participate in the annual St. Luke’s Women’s Fitness Celebration, Sept. 24-26.  The Saturday (Sept.  26) road event begins at the Grove in downtown Boise and will offer routes of 5 kilometers and 3.1 miles. Participants can complete the distance at their own pace, whether running, walking or strolling.

The fitness celebration is one of the largest of its kind. Last year approximately 12,000 people registered. The deadline for registering as part of a team is midnight, Sept. 11. Individuals may register until midnight, Sept. 22.

“We would love to have you register with the Road Angels team, but please do not feel obligated,” said ITD team captain Sandy Harris. “Either way, register and participate.”

Harris’s ISP counterpart is Jolene Santo. They can be reached at 334-8085 and 884-7317, respectively.

Both registration options will provide you with the “Shine Out Loud” Women’s Fitness Celebration T-shirt, admission to the women’s show at the Grove on Sept. 24 and 25, an official registration number and breakfast at the end of the walk, Harris said.

Several departure “waves” are planned for the walk, depending on skill/fitness level or pace. Participants are encouraged to choose a wave that is suitable. Those who register as part of the ITD/ISP Road Angels team will receive a $5 discount, but they do not have to travel as a group.

Advantages of registering under the Road Angels banner, according to Harris, are:

  • First of all, we need to represent ISP and ITD in a big way!
  • United as the Road Angels Team we can stand out and be a fun, fantastic part of this event. Why not? Let’s have fun! Our eye-catching Road Angels team logo wear will be available for this event. Additional information will be sent out soon.
  • And, you will receive a $5 discount if you register on a team.
  • We will be kicking this event off as a team with a tailgate (wake-up) party in the Boise Towne Square parking lot the morning of the walk.

Buses will be available to transport participants from the Boise Town Square to downtown Boise and back.

See the Road Angels flyer or go to http://celebrateall.org/ to register.
