IDAHO NATIONAL TRANSPORTER Idaho
Transportation

Last week we drove from our home in California to northern Idaho and then to Glacier National Park. We had never been in your part of the country before, and we were greatly impressed and moved by the grandeur and the beauty of it. To the point – we drove up Highway (U.S.) 95 to the Canadian border, and before turning around and heading back toward our destination in Glacier, we stopped at a turn-out to take everything in -- and a plastic liter-size water bottle rolled fell out of the car and across the road. My confession? I forgot to run across the road and get the bottle before we drove away! It's a small thing, but I feel terrible about this. I consider myself to be a committed friend of the natural world, and I'm very conscientious about not messing it up as I travel in it. So, we picked up quite a bit of litter in the area as we toured around in order to make up for it. Meanwhile, what I'd really like to do is make a small donation to your local government’s road maintenance program. Can you please let me know who to make out a check to, and where to send it? I would appreciate it very much. Good luck to you in your efforts to keep your beautiful part of the world unspoiled in the future. Sincerely, Jon Levitow, Published 8-28-09 |
