CTAI provides information at task force meeting

The Community Transportation Association of Idaho (CTAI) appeared before Governor Otter’s Transportation Funding Taskforce on Oct. 8 – as the taskforce assesses transportation needs across the state.

CTAI’s message emphasized the value of mobility options and local, coordinated mobility planning – which provides local communities the ability to plan for their unique mobility needs.

“CTAI supports and encourages the grass-roots effort undertaken by people at their local level to identify and address their unique mobility needs," said Executive Director Heather Wheeler.  "CTAI’s mission is to improve mobility for the people of Idaho by working with consumers, stakeholders, and leaders while advocating for safe, cost effective, accessible, integrated and affordable mobility services and systems.”

Having a coordinated and affordable mobility system is critical to the quality of life enjoyed in Idaho and vital to the survival of rural communities.  While “mobility” includes public transportation, highways and mass transit, it goes beyond to include things such as car and vanpool programs, walking paths, bike paths, car-sharing, shuttles, light rail and more.

“Our goal is to have a coordinated, statewide system that connects people in Idaho through a mix of exciting transportation options, helping to keep Idaho clean, beautiful, and economically successful,” said Wheeler.  “Through the local planning efforts, the vision of mobility in Idaho is becoming a reality.”
