United We Care campaign heads into home stretch

Carla Anderson
United We Care, Headquarters coordinator

ITD and other state agencies are in the midst of an annual campaign – United We Care – that provides resources for United Way.

Employees at Headquarters have a number of ways to participate in the charitable campaign. Do you plan on donating?  If so have you visited the Web site to complete your pledge form?  If you have not completed the form, remember the campaign ends Oct. 30.

You might ask how we can ask for increased donations when each time we hear the financial news we cringe.  Look at just what a dollar will buy:

  • A contribution of $1 per week will provide more than 230 pounds of food from the Idaho Food Bank to feed low-income children and families through the Giraffe Laugh child care food pantry.
  • A contribution of $1 per week will provide school supplies for a child at the Women and Children’s Alliance who left their backpack behind to escape domestic violence.
  • A contribution of $1 per week will provide one dental exam for an uninsured, low-income individual at Terry Reilly Health Services.

Our schedule of activities for the remainder of the campaign include:

Oct. 26-30 (Monday-Friday)
Goodie guess – Information Desk in Lobby;  Come guess the amount of candy in the jar for $.50 a guess. You may win all the trick or treat candy you will need for your goblins!

Oct. 27 (Tuesday)
Treat sale – Headquarters breakroom; 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.  Bring your homemade goodies to sell for donations to the campaign.

Oct. 29, 30 (Thursday, Friday)
Basket raffle – Headquarters Lobby; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Raffle ticket price is still $1 for 1 ticket or $5 for 7 tickets.

With your help, we can make this year’s campaign even better than last year’s.  Each contribution is important, and I want to thank you in advance for your consideration of this opportunity to help others.
