Benzon hospitalized after Friday morning crash

Doug Benzon, a 35-year ITD employee, was seriously injured this morning while walking in a crosswalk on the Headquarters campus. A woman driving through the campus apparently failed to see him in the crosswalk between the Office of Highway Operations and Safety parking area and the main building.

He was transported by ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical center and is being treated for a broken leg, broken ribs, a dislocated knee and possible internal injuries.
