Applications sought for transportation awards

The 2010 Excellence in Transportation Awards program is accepting applications for honors in three personnel categories and four project categories, announces Monica Crider.

Applications must be submitted by 4 p.m. March 24. Winners will be announced at a 2 p.m. ceremony at the Headquarters auditorium on April 28. Application forms are available at: http://itd.idaho.gov/excellence.award/default.htm

Three awards will be given in the personnel category: ITD Engineer of the Year, ITD Professional of the Year and ITD Career Achievement. Project awards include: construction, environmental stewardship, maintenance and operations, public participation and transportation planning.

Each of the categories has a unique judging criteria. Detailed information is available on the ITD Web site.

Award eligibility

Project categories
Any firm or agency engaged in transportation-related projects in Idaho is eligible to enter. Submitted projects must be located in Idaho.

The entry must be associated with a public transportation improvement project or funded by transportation dollars and fall into one of the below listed award categories. Projects must have been completed in the last three calendar years, inclusive of the current year and presently in use.

An entry submitted in previous years may be resubmitted if it still complies with the aforementioned time span. Winning entries from previous years are ineligible. A project may be entered in as many categories as desired. However, a separate application must be submitted for each category entry addressing its specified criteria.

Personnel categories
Any ITD or non-ITD individual may submit a nomination for one of the three personnel categories. Please review the eligibility requirements for each personnel award category because they vary.
