ITD forms outreach partnership with Mexican Consulate ITD’s on-going efforts to reduce motor vehicle fatalities on Idaho highways got a boost recently thanks to a new partnership of the department and the Mexican Consulate in Boise. Mexican Consul Ricardo Pineda and Deputy Consul Ana Mercedes Hernandez offered ITD the use of consulate airtime on three Spanish radio stations in the Treasure Valley to help communicate the department’s commitment to safe travel and “Towards Zero Deaths” goal for Idaho highways. The open invitation gives ITD an on-going opportunity to air Spanish-language highway safety public service advertisements on these radio stations. A consulate mobile unit that travels throughout the state also will provide the department with another option to distribute brochures, posters and other ITD information to Idaho’s Hispanic community. Department representatives who toured the consulate and met with staff were Deputy Director Scott Stokes, Highway Safety Manager Mary Hunter and OHOS Grants Officer Donna Vasquez.
