Awards for transportation excellence
to be presented at April ceremony

Nominations for projects due by March 24

Transportation projects from throughout the state will be formally recognized during ITD’s 2010 Excellence in Transportation Awards ceremony April 28 at 2 p.m. in the Headquarters Auditorium.

Award applications must be received no later than 4 p.m., March 24 by Awards Coordinator Monica Crider, ITD Headquarters Roadway Design, P.O. Box 7129, Boise, ID 83707-1129.

Any ITD or non-ITD individual may submit a nomination for one of three personnel categories – Engineer of the Year, Professional of the Year and Career Achievement.

Any firm or agency engaged in transportation-related projects in Idaho is eligible to enter project categories, but submitted projects must be located in Idaho. Projects must have been completed in the past three calendar years (including the current year) and presently in use. Previously nominated projects can be resubmitted if they were completed during that time period. Past winners are not eligible again.

One award will be presented to the winner of each project category. Each winning entry will have the opportunity to present up to three additional awards to other firms or agencies that may have contributed to the project. Also, up to six certificates of recognition may be given to the project's key personnel.

Project categories open to submission are Construction, Environmental Stewardship, Maintenance and Operations, Public Participation and Transportation Planning.

The Excellence in Transportation Awards are sponsored annually by ITD to recognize outstanding initiatives in developing, planning, and implementing transportation projects throughout the state. The awards program also recognizes individuals in transportation-related fields who have made exceptional contributions.

A panel of qualified and experience judges who represent the transportation industry will judge entries.

For more information and entry details go to the 2010 Excellence in Transportation Awards Web site. (http://itd.idaho.gov/excellence.award/)
