A new form of highway safety...

From the Idaho Statesman
Two ITD workers from a highway construction site helped save six baby ducks after their mother and four siblings were killed on Interstate 84 near the Broadway exit.

"They were awesome to help me," said Lori Hills, who noticed the stranded animals and they started looking for someone to help gather the survivors. "They just went above and beyond."

She said she wasn't sure the response she'd get when she pulled up the construction site.

"I said I have a strange request."

Hills said the men, Idaho Transportation Department workers Marc Danley and Tom Points, gathered the ducklings in their hard hats and coats. Hills then took the birds to the Animals In Distress Association's Ruth Melichar Bird Center in Boise.
