ITD prepasres for 50th Idaho Asphalt Conference

Nearly 150 attendees are expected to meet in Moscow Oct. 27-28 for the 50th Idaho Asphalt Conference, including two dozen ITD representatives. Mike Santi, ITD’s assistant materials engineer and a member of the organizing committee, said the speakers for this year’s conference include the president of the Asphalt Institute and several FHWA leaders.

Highlights for conference-goers include:

  • Expanded conference that includes a banquet to celebrate 50 years of improvements in Idaho Asphalt paving;
  • Expanded expo with local and national suppliers available to answer questions;
  • Sessions from experts across the county about the latest improvements and technology.

The conference is held in October every year in Moscow. The University of Idaho, ITD and the Asphalt Institute are co-sponsors. The conference addresses issues related to the design and construction of asphalt pavements of concern to local and state governments as well as consulting engineering firms. Past attendees like Santi have found it a valuable forum to address design, construction and management issues of asphalt pavements.

“We’re pushing pavement preservation, which is the mantra in these days of tighter budgets,” Santi said. “One of the most valuable things for attendees is listening to industry experts and networking. ITD, local highway districts, smaller outfits… we’re all dealing with budget constraints.”

Please access the conference website for more information or to register. Questions should be directed to idahoasphalt@uidaho.edu or( 800) 942-4978.
