ISP, ITD to form Women's fitness 'Road Angels' team

The Idaho State Police and ITD will combine to form the Road Angels team as part of the St. Luke's Women’s Celebration 5K run, walk and stroll in downtown Boise, Sept. 25. The fitness celebration theme is “Feel the Joy Rising.

Runners and walkers are divided and will be assigned specific start times according to ability. The “red” and “yellow” waves are timed, competitive waves. The red wave is a timed, competitive run; participants should sign up in this wave if they want to do a combination of both running and walking. The yellow wave is a timed, competitive fitness walk; participants must walk the entire course. Age group awards are available participants “1 to 80 years young.”

The fitness celebration is for females of all ages, including a Tiny Tot group for children 5 and younger, and an Over 70s group.

Prize drawings are planned as part of the Finish Line Party. The ceremony ends with the grand prize drawings. Prizes include 10 pairs of Broadway in Boise tickets.

  • Elite Participants-Team (by invitation only), $21
  • Red Wave-Team competitive run (must have reached age 6 by Sept. 25, 2010), $21
  • Yellow Wave-Team fitness walk (must have reached age 6 by Sept. 25, 2010), $21
  • Blue Wave-Team competitive run or walk (no wheels), $17
  • Purple Wave-Team (non-competitive run or walk, no wheels), $17
  • Orange Wave-Team (family, stroller, all-wheels division), $17

While intended as a women’s fitness event, males 12 and younger are welcome to participate. Males older than 12 are encouraged to participate by volunteering. A race number is required for each person on the Celebration 5K course, including all babies and children.
