Credit union to present financial 'university'

ITD employees who want a new perspective on creating a strong financial future are invited to attend ICON University, a two-day seminar sponsored by the credit union. Four sessions are planned in the Headquarters auditorium:

  • Dangers of Debt, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Jeff Currie will discuss how debt affects an individual’s long-term financial status. The informative seminar will cover the downfalls of debt and how to avoid them.

  • Understanding your credit score, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. by Kathy Taylor. The session provides information on how credit scores. Credit scores are being used more by employers, cable television companies and cell phone providers, among many other businesses.

  • Budgeting, 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., by Terri La Coy. Attendees will learn how to budget for monthly expenses to ensure funds are available when bills are due. La Coy also will talk about ways to make your personal budget work for you.

  • Bargain shopping, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Presented by ”Fabulously Frugal,” the session includes stretching your dollar and getting the most for your purchases through the use of coupons and other bargain shopping.
