Public transportation groups to meet Oct. 12

Two public transportation advisory groups will meet at the Holiday Inn-Vista in Boise Tuesday (Oct. 12) to discuss initiatives, partnership coordination and federal funding opportunities and related issues.

Members of the Interagency Working Group for Public Transportation (IWG) and the Public Transportation Advisory Council (PTAC) will assemble at 9 a.m. After opening remarks, groups will receive an overview of the I-Way website and learn of funding partnership opportunities through the Federal Transit Administration.

The morning will close with a presentation in the intercity transit program strategy.

PTAC members will elect a new chairman and vice-chairman during a working luncheon.

The afternoon agenda includes discussions on the I-Way partnership coordination matrix, an update on the Community Transportation Association of Idaho, an Idaho Department of Health & Welfare “communities and complete streets project,” report and information about four ongoing initiatives.

The PTAC was created to advise the Idaho Transportation Department on issues and policies related to public transportation in Idaho. It is composed of six members, one representing each of ITD’s administrative districts.

IWG's mission is to provide leadership in developing coordinated, responsible and integrated public transportation systems in Idaho.
