District 6's Hansen hospitalized after hunting accident

District 6 employee Korby Hansen, 35, was seriously injured recently in a hunting accident and is recovering at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls. It was the second tragic accident involving a district employee in about three weeks, following the on-duty traffic accident that claimed the life of maintenance worker Jonathan Prahasto.

Hansen and a partner were finishing an afternoon of hunting Friday, Oct. 15, near the Snake River Bridge between Rigby and Rexburg when he was shot. A slug passed through his arm and into his chest. Upon arrival at the medical center, he was listed critical, but by mid-week his condition improved to between poor and fair, according to his father Terry.

Korby, a transportation technician working in materials testing at the District 6 office in Rigby, has been working for ITD since December 2000. His father is a 31-year ITD veteran who retired from District 6 in 2001.

Terry reported that a large number of ITD employees have visited his son and expressed wishes for his continued improvement. Anyone who would like to send a card or letter can forward it to Sandy Holder at the District 6 office for delivery to the hospital.
