Hagerman rest area reopens for traveler relief

The Hagerman Rest Area, located on U.S. 30 south of Hagerman, reopened to the public this week following a six-month reconstruction of the restroom facility.

Enhancements to the facility include an expanded restroom building that has eight restroom stalls and accommodations for family use, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant sidewalks, curbs and picnic facilities. An improved sanitary sewer system has been installed, and an overlay of the parking lot was completed.

The original facility was constructed in 1966 and did not comply with ADA requirements. The Hagerman Rest Area is a popular stop for travelers driving between Interstate 84 and U.S. 93.

Starr Corporation, of Twin Falls, was the contractor for the $431,937 project. Reconstruction began in July. Additional work on the grass and landscaping will be completed this spring.
