Right man for right of way

Idaho Transportation Department,
We are writing to you in regards to right of way agent Zane Lathim.

We would like to commend Mr. Lathim for his work with us through the whole process of the purchase of our land for the Highway 95 project. He went way above and beyond any of our expectations and made us feel important and valued. Zane stayed in contact with us and answered all our questions and concerns.

He explained each step of the process and always returned our phone calls. From the time we first met Mr. Lathim through the entire process he assured us we could rely on him to help us with anything in regards to the project.

Zane has the ability to ensure people understand what’s happening and what’s to be expected. He took the time to explain every step of the process and ensured we understood. Mr. Lathim was honest and forthright in dealing with us because if he did not know an answer to our questions, he told us and then would get the right answer for us. This is a quality of great value and greatly appreciated.

We know there are many people around here not happy about the Highway 95 project, but after our encounter with Mr. Lathim we are not among those people any more. Zane has proven himself to be an honest and fair man. He should be recognized for his work, time, commitment and dedication.

We are very pleased with the outcome of our transaction and hope you would take the time to recognize him for all of his hard work.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Karletta G. Berry
Mr. Matthew T. Gainer

Lives saved, improved by Driver Services support

General Darrell Manning,
Chairman, Idaho Transportation Board

We would like to take this opportunity to again thank you for allowing us time at your ITD Board meeting on January 20 to present the Silver Medal to the Driver Services section. They have been wonderful partners, and without their support for the Idaho Donor Registry, the number of lives saved and improved because of organ, eye and tissue donation would be substantially less.

You have a great staff, and we are truly appreciative of all they do.

At the top of his list for service

Division of Highways,

On Feb. 8 at 9 p.m. I sent the following (to comments on the ITD website): “How do mile markers work? For example for Hwy 21, Hwy 55 and Hwy 95, where does mile marker one (1) start for each?”

I received my answer from Steve C. Holland - Transportation Staff Eng. Asst. - Office of Highway Operations and Safety, on Feb. 2 at 10:44 a.m.

Steve not only answered my question, but went far beyond the requested information and gave me a great deal of additional information. I have as yet to contact any Idaho government office or employee that has not given me great service, and Steve is now at the top of that list.

You should be very proud of him, as he is a great asset to your team. Just as a footnote, I managed a propane company for 28 years, and I do know what makes a good employee. Thank you for your time.
