Careening semi wipes out I-84 guardrail, damages bridge

 

A westbound semi truck left its mark -- a trail of destruction -- on a bridge and guardrail near Mountain Home Tuesday. The driver of the semi lost control and drove into guardrail on Interstate 84 near Exit 95, careened into a bridge, and crossed over into the eastbound lanes where it damaged more guardrail. ITD crews, joined by inmate labor crews, worked on repairs to the gaurdrail on the east side of the bridge Wednesday. Concrete repairs to the bridge are pending and probably will be made within a week or two. Inspectors estimate the damage to be about $10,000, which is expected to be covered by the driver's insurance company.
