Communications staff claim 10 Idaho Press Club awards

ITD and its Office of Communications brought home 10 awards from the Idaho Press Club's Best of 2010 awards presented at the organization's annual meeting Saturday in Boise.

ITD swept the “Feature Writing – Public Relations” category with Mel Coulter, Bruce King and Reed Hollinshead honored. Hollinshead received first place for his feature on efforts to increase organ, tissue and eye donations through a driver's license designation. King took second for a feature on a District 6 employee who attempted a comeback in rodeo competition. Coulter was awarded a pair of third places for feature articles in the Transporter.

The office also took first and second in the “News Release” category with packages of releases by Steve Grant and Hollinshead. Hollinshead and Grant also teamed up for an award in the “Media Kit” category for a Work Zone Safety promotion.

Scott Stokes and Rik Hinton took a second-place award for the ITD Dashboard under “Special Purpose Website.” Barbara Babic also received an award for her brochure for the 2010 Board Tour in northern Idaho.

Hollinshead also received awards for the department’s social media efforts, and shared a "Public Service" award with RBCI for Cole to Broadway public outreach efforts.

Although each of the awards named a communications office staff member, the awards represented the accomplishments and hard work of the entire department, said Jeff Stratten, ITD’s Public Information Officer.

ITD’s Office of Communications has won 10 first-place awards in the last five Idaho Press Club competitions in the public relations division.
