Forum
on Transportation Investment
Report
to transportation board
Recommendations by a citizen's forum that focused
on how to finance Idaho's growing transportation
needs were accepted by the Idaho Transportation
Board this week at its meeting in Boise. The Forum
on Transportation Investment examined Idaho's growing
transportation needs and available options for financing
and funding Idaho's transportation system during
eight meetings spanning 17 months. Continue

The 14 recommendations the Forum derived from the
conclusions covered a range of policy and funding

receives report on BSU research The

crews repair U.S. 2, reopen key route
Record rainfall and saturated soil led to unsafe
driving conditions and prompted ITD to close U.S.
2 near the west city limits of Sandpoint. The indefinite
closure severed the primary route between Sandpoint
and Spokane. ITD crews in district 1 worked quickly
to replace the culverts and reopened the highway
to traffic Wednesday morning (Jan. 18). Continue
Clearing
the way for safe winter travel
Connie Marshall drives truck for a living.
At least in the winter. She takes the helm
of an yellow ITD snowplow truck when weather
turns nasty and begins piling up in white
layers on Idaho’s highways. Working
out of District 3, Marshall will become
a recognizable spokesperson for snowplow
safety as the transportation department
begins running radio and television commercials
throughout Idaho. ContinueITD
schedules legislative presentations next
week
ITD Director Dave Ekern and department administrators
will meet with legislators this month and
in early February to discuss accomplishments
of the past year and outline funding priorities
for Fiscal Year 2007. They will give a joint
presentation to the House and Senate transportation
committees at the Capitol on Thursday (Jan.
26). Continue Electronic
W2 forms available
State employees who want to get an early
start on income tax preparation do not have
to wait until late January when W-2 forms
that report annual earnings and withholdings
traditionally are mailed. Electronic W-2
forms will be available on the State Controller’s
Office Web site, effective Jan. 13, about
a week before the mailing was scheduled
to begin. Continue Controller's
Office to begin mailing W2 forms
The 2005 W-2 forms were delivered to the
Statehouse Mail Room (Thursday) Jan. 19.
They will be processed through the mailroom
and should start going out soon. We anticipate
that employees should begin receiving their
paper W-2 forms sometime next wee (Jan.
23-27). Continue
