Boat accident injures three on Snake River
LEWISTON - Three people were injured over the weekend after the boat they were riding in struck a rock on the Snake River. According to a Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office news release, the accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Shovel Creek Rapids, located approximately 30 miles south of Asotin. The 2003 Custom Weld jet boat was being driven by Jeff Pollilo, a deputy with the Asotin County Sheriff's Office who was off duty at the time of the accident, with five passengers on board. Three people were ejected from the boat at the time of the accident, according to the sheriff's office. The passengers were picked up by a passing boat and taken to the Heller Bar area, where personal vehicles were used to transport the injured occupants to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, according to the sheriff's office. Names of the passengers were not released by the sheriff's office. Two people were treated and released at the hospital and a third was admitted for observation, according to the news release. The accident is under investigation by the Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office.
