Expect restrictions, closures on I-84 from Broadway to Gowen through end of month as crews prepare for rebuild
BOISE – Intermittent lane closures and shoulder restrictions will occur overnight on Interstate 84 between the Broadway Avenue and Gowen Road interchanges Thursday (Feb. 14) as crews survey the area and collect geotechnical samples for the upcoming interchange reconstructions.
The restrictions will also be in place starting next week, from Monday (Feb. 18) through Wednesday (Feb. 27).
The lane restrictions will occur at night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. At least one lane will remain open in each direction. Roadway shoulders will be restricted during the day and night.
Both the Broadway and Gowen interchanges are planned to be rebuilt starting in early 2014.
In 2014, a third lane will be added to I-84 between the Broadway and Gowen interchanges. In addition, Gowen Road will be widened from South Eisenman Road to Federal Way.
Over the next year, ITD will finalize the designs for each project, identify and purchase needed land, and gather public input on the projects. As a part of this work, ITD is also planning to replace the Meridian Road Interchange in early 2014 and widen I-84 under the interchange.
