Innovation Steward Profile:
D4's D.J. Price (2x Best of Best winner)

D.J. Price became an innovation steward in November of 2017. At that time, becoming a steward was not something on the forefront of his mind. However, looking back after two years of service, he recalls many fond memories from his time in the role.

“At first I was a bit skeptical,” Price explains. “Although I was familiar with Best of the Best, having received the award on two previous occasions, I didn’t fully understand exactly how the program worked, or what the role of a steward entailed.”

Trey Mink, the previous D4 steward, nominated Price to take on the role.

“When Trey first approached me, I requested that he write a letter explaining his reasoning behind my nomination,” Price said. “After reading his words, I felt more comfortable with assuming the position, and I’m glad that I did.”

Although serving as the D4 Innovation Steward was something outside of Price’s comfort zone, he assumed the role with complete commitment.

“I made the decision at the very beginning that I was going to give 100% to the innovation program and support my colleagues with their ideas,” Price said.

While there are too many great innovations to highlight, Price feels that the improvement in the recognition process over the last few years is definitely worthy of note.

“The great thing about being an innovation steward, is meeting new people and getting to know them on a more personal level. It’s also very rewarding to see new ideas being developed, and building off one another.”
