Board hears program updates, learns about data-collection activities
At its monthly meeting Oct. 15 in Boise, the transportation board heard a report on the Community Choices for Idaho program, received an update on the Mobility Management Program contract and learned about data collection activities conducted by the Transportation Systems Office.

Kuisti’s first year as Lewiston district engineer features challenges and achievements

For Dave Kuisti, the new district engineer in Lewiston, the last 12 months have been filled with challenges, obstacles, and ultimately, accomplishments. And the traffic light that gave him an unmistakable Panhandle message.

Have a safe and fun Halloween
Halloween falls on Friday this year so watch out for a parade of little ghosts, ghouls and goblins with big trick-or-treat plans. Parents are encouraged to use caution and common sense before sending their children into the dark. Preparation begins with the selection of Halloween costumes and should include warnings about pedestrian and stranger safety.

Operation Safe Driver, Teen Driver Safety Week Aim to Reduce Crashes, Save Lives
Each year, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) partners with the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) to conduct "Operation Safe Driver," a high-profile traffic safety education and law enforcement campaign across North America. On Monday, this year's week-long campaign was kicked off in Denver, Colo., with a simple message: Nearly all crashes are preventable, and safety is a shared responsibility among all motorists.

Encore: (10-17-2014) ITD Hearing Officer John Tomlinson awarded certificate by National Judicial College
When John Tomlinson was promoted to ITD Hearing Officer in August of 2012, he immediately set out to be better-equipped for his new duties. That culminated recently in certification from the National Judicial College (NJC) with a Certificate of Judicial Development in Administrative Law-Adjudication Skills, an honor reserved for a select group of judges and hearing officers.

Encore: (10-17-14) Zundel saves department thousands by making computer speakers optional
The Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) department has recently changed their computer purchasing guidelines. Tyler Zundel, who manages planning and governance functions in Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) in the Division of Administration, received a concerned message regarding dozens of computer speakers being returned and thrown out every month, most of which were unused.

Encore: (10-17-14) Moscow traffic detection equipment will gather data as part of research project with University of Idaho
Nearly a dozen detection cameras mounted on a single traffic signal in downtown Moscow are helping gather data as part of an extensive research partnership between the Idaho Transportation Department and the University of Idaho. The test location is at the intersection of U.S. 95 and D Street.
