ITD installs new highway cameras in eastern Idaho
The next time drivers want to view what road conditions are really like in eastern Idaho, they can log on to 511.idaho.gov and see up-to-the-minute images of the actual roadways day or night.

2015: Combating Distracted Driving
The Office of Highway Safety has declared 2015 as the year of combating distracted driving in Idaho. It is no secret that distracted driving contributes in a large way to fatal and serious injury crashes on all our roadways. Efforts to eliminate distracted driving should at least match the efforts used to encourage seat belt usage and fighting impaired driving.

Farrell, Klopman promoted in District 1 maintenance
Ross Farrell (St. Maries) and Tom Klopman (Sandpoint) were recently promoted to foremen positions within the District 1 maintenance family, overseeing nearly 600 miles of roadway, 25 employees and a big happy family.

Idaho Driver’s License Practice Test and Bicycle Safety Quiz Now Available Online
Building on the demand for the driver’s license practice test mobile app, ITD is now offering a free web-based knowledge practice test. The original practice test mobile app was launched in June 2014, and since then requests have been pouring into ITD’s Driver Services section for an exam that can also be accessed on any laptop or personal computer.

Employees recognized for contributions to charitable-giving campaign
In late January, ITD’s District 5 employees were recognized for going above and beyond — nearly twice the stated goal — in the annual State Employees Charitable Giving Campaign. Going the Distance, as the award from United Way said.

Encore (01-30-15): Local commerce, jobs preserved in second phase of Cheyenne South Valley Connector in Pocatello
As crews embark in February on the second phase of a long-awaited project to build an east-west connector between Bannock Highway and South 5th Avenue on the south end of Pocatello, an adjustment from ITD will help preserve and protect local and regional commerce, and sustain local jobs.

Encore (01-30-15): Dead deer response earns kudos for Littlefield, ITD
In mid-January, homeowners Bonnie and Bill Willoughby found a dead deer in the yard of their Coeur d’Alene home. How to dispose of the carcass became their top priority. Andrea Littlefield from ITD’s District 1 office played a major role.
