Lack of winter allows ITD northern Idaho crews to get jump on road striping with new cold-weather paint
For the first time in decades, northern Idaho had nothing resembling its usual winter. The Coeur d’Alene/Post Falls area had the lowest levels of snowpack and precipitation recorded in years. So rather than plowing snow all spring, District 1 crews took the initiative to get ahead.

Email changeover to Exchange Online underway, expected to finish in April
Migration of ITD email accounts to Exchange Online is underway and during the coming weeks you may expect an email from Enterprise Technology Services explaining how that will work. The move will improve email reliability and provide each user an impressive 50 gigabytes of file storage rather than the 250 megabytes currently allowed.

AASHTO Introduces Toward Zero Deaths Plan to Reduce Roadway Fatalities
The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) joined the National Strategy on Highway Safety Toward Zero Deaths (TZD) effort, a vision of eliminating fatalities on our nation's roadways. Towards Zero Deaths has been an ITD initiative since at least 2006.

Starting this fall, every 4th-grader across the country will receive a family pass for one year's free admission to all of our national parks, monuments, forests, wildlife refuges, and waterways. Encore (03-06-15): Highway 16 bridge, roadwork recognized for engineering excellence
The Idaho 16 bridge and road work involved in building a bridge over the Boise River and connecting State Street to Chinden Boulevard, has received a National Recognition Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies in their 2015 Engineering Excellence awards. The award honors projects that demonstrate exceptional achievements in engineering.

Students in grades K-12 can express their love for aviation through artwork during the annual aviation art contest sponsored by Idaho’s Division of Aeronautics through an extended deadline of March 31. A love affair with flight usually begins at an early age, and art may be the perfect medium to express that affection.
