Ness named president of 18-state western transportation coalition
ITD Director Brian W. Ness was named the new president of the Western Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (WASHTO) during the 18-state regional organization’s annual conference, held July 19-22 in Boise. Ness assumed leadership Wednesday, July 22.

Driving Habits
U.S. driving tops trillion-mile mark in year's first five months
WASHINGTON, D.C. – New estimates released today by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (USDOT) Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) show that U.S. driving topped an estimated 1.26 trillion miles in the first five months of 2015, passing the previous record – 1.23 trillion – set in May 2007. It is the 15th consecutive month of increased driving.

Encore (07-24-15): ITD Vault 25 Years Ago (Aug./Sept. 1990): New plate honors heroes
The first Idaho-issued congressional Medal of Honor license plate was presented in June to David B. Bleak, of Moore, Idaho. The plates were provided in time for them to be put on his car for the Fourth of July motorcade through town.
