Department unveils new Innovate ITD! site for employees
Innovation is woven into the fiber of ITD employees. Starting in 2014, the department began communicating and sharing the results of this innovative spirit through the Innovate ITD! SharePoint site. Since then, hundreds of great ideas and innovations have been shared across the department. More than $1.5 million and thousands of hours have been saved so far.

New career path program for ITD maintenance foremen launches July 1
Building on the success of its yearlong Transportation Technician Operations program, the Idaho Transportation Department adds a new career track for its Transportation Operations Team Leaders (TOTL) beginning July 1. The TOTL program will affect approximately 47 foremen statewide.

District 4 - Innovation
District 4's Bolton creates custom solution to common diesel-delivery issues
Thousands of ITD truck operators statewide must use a DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) delivery system in order to operate new trucks recently added to the equipment fleet for maintenance. Several issues have cropped up, though, making the process more cumbersome. District 4 Mechanic Jon Bolton created customized solutions to these hurdles.

America's Transportation Awards
ITD wins pair of prestigious America’s Transportation Awards for work benefiting Idaho drivers
The Idaho Transportation Department won a pair of America’s Transportation Awards June 29. The awards recognized a historic investment in the state’s roads and bridges during the last decade, and a collaborative project in southeast Idaho that improves commerce, safety and the mobility of drivers.

Poignant, powerful Highway Safety video sets social-media records
A short, but powerful video produced by ITD’s Office of Highway Safety and partner KBOI Channel 2 television has generated the most activity every for an un-promoted OHS video. The video has been viewed 10,500 times on ITD’s main webpage. The video originated on the OHS page June 22.

As transportation groups observe the 60th anniversary of the interstate highway system, many say it has gone in a few decades from an economy-lifting network to a system that is increasingly clogged and decaying from lack of sufficient investment.

Encore (06-24-16): Recent Race Creek Bridge project in District 2 breeds pair of innovations
The recent Race Creek Bridge replacement project about a mile north of Riggins spawned a pair of innovations utilizing existing technologies to allow more efficient project management on the rural, remote landscape that dominates much of Idaho.
