Fire season starting in D4 with multiple road closures
It’s been a busy couple weeks; fire season is officially here. It started as soon as a human-caused fire closed Interstate 84 near Glenns Ferry on June 5. As soon as winter snows melted and spring floods subsided, summer dryness hit the lowlands.

Jezmynne Arroway will become the first program manager of ITD’s Information Management section July 24. Arroway brings 15 years of professional experience to ITD, as a natural innovator, organizer, and creative thinker.

Valley and Oneida recognized for zero fatalities in 2016
A goal of zero fatalities on our highways at times can seem difficult or even impossible – but two Idaho counties show it can be done. Valley County and Oneida County had zero traffic-related deaths in 2016.

Idaho Transportation Board
Emergency relief funding, GARVEE refinance, and Federal Lands access highlight upcoming board meeting
Approval of funds for emergency repairs stemming from the recent wet winter weather, review of Federal Lands access improvements, and possible refinance of GARVEE bonds will highlight next week’s Idaho Transportation Board meeting in eastern Idaho. A tour of area roadways will begin on Thursday (July 20) and the monthly board meeting will be held on Friday (July 21) at ITD’s offices in Rigby.

Workforce diversity makes a stronger, better ITD
The word “diversity” conjures up a whole set of possibilities. At times, it can feel synonymous with protected classes, hiring practices, or cultural progressiveness. None of those are bad things. Diversity is good for all.
