District 6 celebrates US-20 improvements with $10,000 for Cystic Fibrosis
ITD donated $10,000 to the Utah and Idaho Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at a ceremony at the Thornton Interchange in eastern Idaho October 10. The prize money came to ITD when the Thornton project won the America’s Transportation Awards public vote earlier this fall.

REMINDER: Brown-bag luncheon planned for Transportation Research Board visit to ITD on Tuesday (Oct. 24)
Staff from the national Transportation Research Board (TRB) will be visiting ITD Headquarters on Tuesday, Oct. 24 to meet with ITD management and staff. As part of the visit, there will be a brown-bag lunch in the auditorium with video conferencing in each of the districts. The noon session is open to all ITD staff.

Office of Highway Safety helps kick off National Teen Safety Week at Middleton game
ITD's Office of Highway Safety kicked off National Teen Driver Safety Week at the Middleton-Skyview (Nampa) high school football game Oct. 13. OHS was there to discuss safe-driving habits with about 200 teens and parents attending the game.

A GARVEE refinance that saved $13.1 million, setting aside $100 million for needed work in the I-84 corridor, and recognition of various ITIP funding sources were highlights of the October 12 meeting of Idaho Transportation Board.

Innovation - Time Savings
Streamlining re-certification process saves thousands of hours
ITD is required by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and their Construction General Permit (CGP) to have "Qualified" inspectors. The EPA re-issued their CGP in February 2017, requiring re-certification by approximately 150 people statewide.
