The department's annual safety stand down is slated for the morning of Dec. 19 at 9 am MST. A video teleconference will kick things off, and all employees are strongly encouraged to attend.

President’s Award Banner showcases employee efforts
A banner showing all of the AASHTO President’s Awards won by the department over the years was recently hung outside the ITD Executive Management offices on the second floor of the Headquarters building in Boise. The awards are a reminder of impressive employee accomplishments.

ITD joins counties to provide training for at-risk youth
Trainer Mike Towne left ITD classrooms for a day Nov. 8 to work with Nez Perce and Latah counties as they provided cadets at the Idaho Youth ChalleNGe Academy with several training opportunities. The academy is a quasi-military, fully-accredited residential high school academy.

5S event in Osburn leads to new power tool charging station
After his shed held a 5S event in Osburn to improve organization and efficiency, transportation tech Tyler Carrico fashioned a charging station for cordless power tools. This simple hack involved old PVC pipe, some paint and a shelf.

Community Outreach
ITD launches annual winter driving safety campaign
ITD launched the annual winter safety campaign “Idaho Ready” Nov. 26 to help drivers prepare for challenging conditions on the state’s highways. This launch came with winter weather bearing down on much of the state and holiday travel beginning.
