Reminder: 2020 Safety Stand Down — September 30, 1-2 p.m. or 2-3 p.m. (MST)
We are now less than a week away from this year's Safety Stand Down, slated for the afternoon of September 30. There will be two sessions, and we divided the districts so that each session would have just about the same number of people. You should have seen a "Save the Date" type of calendar request in the last few days that shows the time slot for each particular district and division. We will be doing this via a virtual platform this year, focusing on COVID-19 best practices and the "new normal" in our work areas.

Report shows significant reduction in human-caused fires along I-84 even as traffic increases
As historic catastrophic wildfires ravage the coastal states, a new report from the Bureau of Land Management shows positive results of a fuel-reduction program along Interstate 84 in southwest Idaho, the result of a long-term partnership between BLM and the Idaho Transportation Department.

Sprucing Up
D1 teams tackle storage problems to maximize space
Last week, several departments in District 1 came together to clean out a storage building that had become full. Over the course of a few days, employees from administration, supply, materials, operations and the shop determined what needed to be kept or what was no longer valuable to the department in order to make the space useable again.
