Board
action helps clear way for transportation partnership
The transportation
board, at its regular meeting in Boise last
week, approved changes in the Statewide Transportation
Improvement Program that clears the way for
a unique public transportation partnership in
Kootenai County. The Kootenai Metropolitan Planning
Organization (KMPO) and the Coeur d’Alene
Tribe will create a partnership that will provide
a daily fixed-route service in the urbanized
area of Kootenai County.

Technology
lets Moscow-area residents experience U.S. 95
alternatives
Nearly
200 farmers, property owners, commuters, professors
and concerned citizens turned out to help determine
a new alignment for almost 6.5 miles of U.S. 95
in Latah County, last week in Moscow.
The visual technology may
become a standard vehicle for demonstrating the
look and feel of project alternatives, explained
Project Manager Ken Helm.

security courses available online
ITD employees who want to
learn techniques for making their digital world more
secure and less vulnerable to intruders can take advantage
of limited-term, online training. A number of courses
are offered as part of the State of Idaho’s
Information Security Awareness Campaign.

Law
enforcement looking for unclicked belts
Law enforcement agencies
throughout Idaho will conduct seat belt saturation
patrols Feb. 7-19 to enforce Idaho’s seat belt
law. The stepped-up enforcement coincides with National
Child Passenger Safety Awareness Week and is part
of the “Click It, Don’t Risk It!”
campaign to increase seat belt use.

Workshops
will help narrow Communities in Motion focus
The Community Planning Association
of Southwest Idaho (COMPASS) and ITD will present
a second round of workshops for the Communities in
Motion project to help refine the growth and transportation
scenarios that emerged from the first round of workshops
held in November 2004.

The 2004 W-2s were delivered
to the Statehouse mailroom on Jan. 18. They are being
distributed now. Officials in the Division of Human
Resources say employees should have received their
W-2s sometime this week.
