Sweeney
reappointed to Transportation Board
The
Idaho Senate voted unanimously March 1 to confirm
Bruce Sweeney to a second six-year term on the Idaho
Transportation Board. His initial appointment to
the transportation board was in February 1999. Sweeneys
second term will end on Jan. 31, 2010.

re-elects Combo vice-chair
Idaho
Transportation Board members re-elected Jack Combo
vice-chairman at its Feb. 26 meeting in Boise. Combo,
from Idaho Falls, was first appointed to the board
in 1990. He served as chairman from 1991 until 1995.

Board discusses use of consultants
The Idaho Transportation
Board held extensive discussions with staff on three
topics when it met Feb. 25 in a workshop at ITD
Headquarters in Boise. Workshop topics were: the
use of consultants, funding of new and maintenance
of existing rest areas, and access management.

New
air service announced between Boise and Sandpoint
The trip between Sandpoint
and Boise is about to get a lot faster. Air
service between the two communities, with connections
to Seattle, is schedule to being in early May.
Organizers from the Sandpoint Air Service Committee
(SASC) were in Boise Wednesday (March 3) introducing
the new service to state agencies and Treasure
Valley-area businesses.

assists military personnel facing deployment
The
Idaho Transportation Department is joining other state
agencies to accommodate the needs of military personnel
who might be deployed overseas or outside the state.
ITDs Division of Motor Vehicles encourages military
personnel to check the expiration dates of their drivers
license and motor vehicles.

employees urged to report suspicious activities
The Idaho Transportation Department
has taken measures especially since the terrorist
attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 to ensure the safety/security
of its employees and to protect state property. Even
with those added safeguards, however, much of the
responsibility to maintain a safe and secure workplace
