level increased for mass transit Homeland
Security Secretary Michael Chertoff announced
a targeted raise in the threat level. "The

ITD, OSHA form safety training alliance A
formal alliance created by the Idaho Transportation
Department and the Occupational Safety and Health
Administration (OHSA) is designed to improve conditions
in the workplace and reduce the number of construction-related
accidents. ITD is the first Idaho agency and one
of just several state transportation departments
nationwide to enter into an educational and training
alliance with OSHA. Continue
Campaign
targets aggressive driving behavior Speeding, tailgating or
trying to beat a yellow light may qualify you as an
aggressive driver. Aggressive driving is a leading
cause of automobile crashes. A safety campaign sponsored
by the Idaho Transportation Department’s Office
of Traffic and Highway Safety (OTHS) is aimed at changing

Motorcyclists
to assemble for Ride to Work Visibility,
which often is a concern of motorcycle riders, should
not be a problem July 20 at ITD’s Headquarters
in Boise. Even if ridership doesn’t increase
significantly on that day (although it probably will),
motorized two-wheelers will assume a place of prominence
in the parking lot between the main building and the
East Annex. Continue
Governor
appoints ITD appraiser to state board Rick Bachmeier, who has
spent 16 years of his 18-year ITD career in right-of-way
appraisal, added new responsibilities last week when
he assumed a place on the Real Estate Appraisal Board.
Gov. Dirk Kempthorne made the appointment, effective

Web site celebrates anniversary of interstates In
preparation for the 50th Anniversary of the Interstate
Highway System in 2006, the American Association of
State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO)
on June 29 launched a Web site dedicated to honoring
