Why
we prepare
Three recent events
– one local and two national –
underscore the crucial role that transportation
plays in our daily lives and our economy.
The devastation caused by hurricanes Katrina
and Rita and the interruption of travel
on one of Idaho’s primary highways
clearly demonstrate the importance of
being prepared for emergencies or disasters.

Inspection
turns up suspicious item under Rainbow Bridge
A routine inspection of
the historic Rainbow Bridge near Cascade revealed
a suspicious object hanging from the arch over
the North Fork of the Payette River. Inspectors
found a plastic bucket with copper wires extending

Botanical
search wouldn't have found noxious weeds
As
our nation celebrates the 200th anniversary
of Lewis and Clark’s expedition across
the North American continent, many have
tried to imagine what these explorers found
on their journey. As they crossed into a
land we now call Idaho, it is certain that
they saw many extraordinary things such
as abundant wildlife, pristine lakes and
rivers and a stunning array of wildflowers
and native plants that scattered the landscape.
