Ekern named to AASHTO groups
ITD Director Dave Ekern was appointed to positions on American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) planning groups during the annual meeting in Philadelphia recently. Ekern was named chair of the Subcommittee on Information Systems and was selected for membership on the Special Committee on Joint Development. AASHTO is a a nonprofit, nonpartisan association representing highway and transportation departments in the 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Engineering student wins award for unique approach
It wasn't Steve Zemke's track record in research and publishing that gave him the edge. It was because the University of Idaho graduate student's first research paper won him the Best Paper of the American Society of Engineering Education Conference in June. His fresh "systems" approach to teaching a discipline as old as Pythagoras was chosen from 1,500 entries...
