Board names consultant to manage GARVEE program

ITD's Koon helps in aftermath of Hurricane Katrina
Cathy Koon, public information specialist for ITD’s District 6 office in Rigby, was among the volunteers providing assistance to hurricane Mississippi as part of a cooperative emergency compact. Mike Keckler, from the Idaho Department of Water Resources, and Jaime Fuhrman, Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, also helped with communications efforts.

ITD nears end of transition to AMS Advantage
The implementation the department’s new financial, human resources and procurement system (ITD Advantage) is on the verge of completion. The human resources component of the system went live Monday (Oct. 24) and will be followed immediately by the phased use of electronic timesheets beginning Nov. 7.

District 2 introduces children to winter road equipment
District 2 maintenance personnel are taking their safety lessons on the road, even though their target audience won’t be eligible for drivers’ licenses for more than a decade. A program for elementary school students introduce work zone and snowplow safety to third- and fourth-graders with the hopes the children will pass their knowledge along to parents before wintertime driving arrives.

Public transportation, airport to benefit from federal bill
The U.S. Senate last week cleared the Fiscal Year 2006 Treasury-Transportation-HUD appropriations bill. It will significantly change the match requirements for local and state providers of public transportation and allocates nearly $12 million for airport, public transit and community development projects in Idaho.
