Innovation Steward Profile:
Angela Monson, Administration

Innovate ITD continues to show impressive results. But those innovation numbers could be even better. To ascend to that next level of participation, employees need to know who to reach out to for help. Angela Monson, the Innovation Steward for Administration, took on the role originally as a networking opportunity.

Monson, at extension 7-8122, had been here about four months when her manager, Dave Tolman, mentioned in a meeting about the need for a new Innovation Steward for Administration. She quickly volunteered, not knowing what it involved, because it figured to be a great way for a newbie at ITD to meet and engage with the movers and shakers within the working group.

“I love being able to network and travel to the districts,” Monson explained. “In my position as an administrative assistant for Financial Services, I communicate with a lot of other districts over the phone and email. Being a steward has allowed me to meet everyone face-to-face, learn about what employees in the districts do, and ask questions I wouldn’t know to ask. As stewards, we’re always looking for ways to improve processes and it allows us to collaborate and think of ways to improve efficiency with various job duties.”

When asked about her role – and the role of every steward, present and past – Monson replied, “Stewards are ALWAYS willing to share, collaborate, and pass on information. Each steward is amazingly talented and kind at work and outside of work, so dont hesitate to ask questions. We love learning about your job and will ask you questions as well.”
