ITD helps honor military veterans through designation on Idaho driver’s licenses and ID cards
Leading into one of the most important holidays of the year, when Idahoans stop to remember military service and sacrifice, the state of Idaho is taking another step toward honoring its nearly 140,000 military veterans. Beginning Monday, Nov. 10, a special designation on state-issued driver’s licenses and identification (ID) cards will allow veterans throughout the state to more easily be recognized.

Chubbuck’s new interchange features iconic wildlife, Salmore’s vision
The new Diverging Diamond Interchange in Chubbuck is one-of-a-kind in several ways. Besides being the first interchange of its kind in Idaho, it also is aesthetically a showcase for the initiative and vision of District 5 Sr. Environmental Planner Alissa Salmore and a tip of the cap to the iconic species found in that region of the state.

New AASHTO informational tool updates transportation revenue options
While public officials continue to discuss ways to fund a new surface transportation authorization, the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials has updated its popular matrix of revenue generating options with new easy-to-understand graphics. The revenue matrix produced prior to MAP-21 enactment in 2012 was incorporated into AASHTO's reauthorization policy resolutions and white papers adopted by the AASHTO Board of Directors in October 2013. AASHTO has also produced a brief descriptive video highlighting the key features of this dynamic new funding information tool.

Encore (10-31-14): Southeast Idaho trio earns Top 5 honors at Western Snow & Ice skills competition
For the better part of two decades, ITD has sent the winners of the state roadeo competition to Colorado each fall to test their equipment skills and knowledge against the region’s best at the Western Snow & Ice Conference. Over the years, a few ITD individuals have placed high in the competition. This year, a trio from southeast Idaho added their names to that exclusive list.

Encore (10-31-14): White and DMV team break record issuing titles in July
Marvin White, a technical record specialist from the Division of Motor Vehicles, illustrated how combining leadership, drive and flexibility can be used to positively change workplace culture. At the Vehicle Services Department’s monthly staff meeting, his team of 12 people discussed how to modernize and improve their current situation with titling procedures.

The Blackfoot City Transportation Commission recently recognized District 5 traffic engineer Corey Krantz for a quick and thorough response to a question of traffic signals and flow. The commission is a citizen advisory group appointed by the city council.
