Bicycle deaths tied to commuter changes, lack of helmets, riders' alcohol use
An eye-opening study from the Governors Highway Safety Association shows that fatalities of bicycle riders in crashes with motor vehicles now overwhelmingly involve adult males who are not wearing helmets, nearly a third of whom may also be alcohol-impaired.

Encore (11-07-14): ITD helps honor military veterans through designation on Idaho driver's licenses and ID cards
Leading into one of the most important holidays of the year, when Idahoans stop to remember military service and sacrifice, the state of Idaho is taking another step toward honoring its nearly 140,000 military veterans. Beginning Monday, Nov. 10, a special designation on state-issued driver’s licenses and identification (ID) cards will allow better recognition of veterans throughout the state.

The new Diverging Diamond Interchange in Chubbuck is one-of-a-kind in several ways. Besides being the first interchange of its kind in Idaho, it also is aesthetically a showcase for the initiative and vision of District 5 Sr. Environmental Planner Alissa Salmore and a tip of the cap to the iconic species found in that region of the state.
